2022 North Dakota State Handball Tournament
This tournament is open to residents from all states/provinces.
TOURNAMENT GAME TIMES & SCHEDULES:
Tournament Games: Depending on the number of entrants, games may start as early as 4:00pm on Friday, March 11.
Tournament Brackets/Game Schedule: Tournament brackets & schedules will be emailed to each registered player on Wednesday, March 9. If you do not receive the brackets/schedules by email on the 9th, please feel free to contact Dee Jones at 701-364-4130, 701-238-3944, or dee.jones@ymcacassclay.org after 12:00pm (noon) on Wednesday, March 9.
If necessary, finals/championship matches may be played on Sunday, March 13 beginning @ 10:00am.
AWARDS: Awards will be given for 1st place in all events.
TOURNAMENT RULES:
General: Tournament ball is the USHA 21 • All players MUST wear eye protection • Players will referee their own games, however, a referee will be provided upon request
Matches: Two games to 21 (tie breaker to 11 if needed)
COVID-19 Precautions: Given anticipated health department reaction to the recent upswing in the COVID-19 Omnicron Variant, taking precautions will (1) protect both you and all other tournament players, (2) assure the tournament can still be played without players being required to wear protective masks, and (3) help prevent the tournament from being cancelled!
So, we are expecting all players to either (1) have been vaccinated (a minimum of 2 doses) or (2) have a negative COVID test within 72 hours of the start of the tournament. Naturally, if you have a positive COVID test in the days leading up to the tournament, we will gladly refund all fees you paid and banquet tickets you bought for the tournament.
HOSPITALITY:
Food: Snacks, fruit, and beverages will be provided throughout the tournament on Friday & Saturday. Sandwiches/lunch for players will be served about 11:30am on Saturday. Lunch is free to all registered tournament players.
Friday Night Social: From roughly 8:30pm-11:00pm, the F-M Handball Club will buy players some beverages and pizza at Rhombus Guys, 606 Main Ave, Fargo ND 58103, which is located 1-2 blocks from the YMCA.
Saturday Night Banquet & Raffle: The banquet is free to all tournament players…raffle tickets are extra! It will be held at Moorhead Billiards & Rail, 701 Center Avenue, Moorhead (about 1 mile from the YMCA Fercho Branch). The social starts at 6:30pm, dinner starts at 7:15pm, and the raffle starts immediately after dinner. The Raffle is the primary fundraiser for the F-M Handball Club, so buy some tickets, win some cash, and help us continue to grow our local handball community and enhance our tournaments!
HOTELS:
If you want to stay within walking distance of the YMCA Fercho Branch, the Friday night social, and the Saturday night banquet, we recommend either the Radisson (https://www.radisson.com/ or 701-232-7363), the slightly less expensive Scandia (701-232-2661), or the new and more expensive Jasper Hotel (701-532-2150 or https://www.jasperfargo.com/). The area has many hotels in various price ranges within easy driving distance of the YMCA Fercho Branch.
